Ok out of all my corals I would say my superman monti is growing the MOST in my tank. i would say it has tripled in size from when I got it 2 months ago. It was the size of 1 of those hard drive mounting screws (you know the really tiny ones used to mount an internal hard drive to the bay). Now its probably close to 2.5 of those. It was given to me because the person who had it everything was dieing and that person wanted to try and save it and I figured I would give it a try. the polyps were brown and the encrustment was white. It is now blue and orangish polyps. He also gave me a rainbow monti which doesnt appear to have grown much but judging by the way the polyps extend I bet it has. Anywho the encrusting of that 2 months ago was white and its now turning a bright blue with orange polyps instead of brown as well. the polyps would barely come out when I first put it in the tank. Now they are just stretched out to where you almost cant tell there is any encrustment underneath.

So I am gonna try and get pics of both and hopefully I can document growth on them. With that said does anyone else notice how its funny that some corals you can see that they have grown and others you know had to have grown but just dont look like they have?

Got any pics? I got a frag a few months ago and it hasn't grown at all. I keep it at the same level as my Sunset (which I've had for years and grows like mad).
I have 5 Danae colony's in my Tank and the Superman is the only one not growing..

My Superman has really taken off lately too! That and my Pokerstar are REALLY encrusting like mad, I should put some plugs next to them so they can encrust the plug too.

I hope to be able to get a pic this weekend. Right now I am working 12 hour shifts at work so makes it hard to find time to take pics. But dont fear I will get pics lol.

The pic here is from a month and a half ish ago. The two "parts" are just about touching now. you can see the blue coming back and this is under a 14k phoenix 250w HQI with 2 24w t5 pro blues :D. I know the distance is hard to see but they were just as far apart as that same screw I was talking about above. *edit just looked it up and that pic was from aug 30th.

Is that a true superman? The polyps look kind of orange, like the maricultured KO that has been going around..

My true superman grows like mad...Both mother colonies of it. Same with my rainbow. I seem to have trouble with my sunset though. What is the secret to that one?

mine is the exact same way. my sunset is a super slow grower. every other monti in the tank i can almost watch it growing before my eyes lol. the sunset monti i bought are large rock about 6x3 and i swear i have seen almost no growth in 3 months. great color just no growth. on well

My lineaged SM grows dismally slow, while my AC pieces grow like weeds...

Maybe its just the coral? Maybe it doesn't grow fast under T5's?
My Sunset grows like a weed along with all of my other danae's..
Lineage-SM is 2nd Gen: Copps-->Typoon-->Me

Also, I have a Purple Rain Monti that grows faster than anything I have ever seen. 1" monthly around the whole diameter (which is 10" at least) so 10"sq inches, crazy.

it is a true superman. HOWEVER, I saw pics of this specimen when it was first bought and the polyps at that time were red. That whole rock used to be covered (from the pics I saw that the guy who gave it to me had). It bleached out in his tank. so my guess is until it really starts to grow it will stay orange. It could also be my lighting that is making it orange. Also like stated in the first post they used to be brown when I first put it in the tank a month prior to those pics I posted.

If I had time I would take pics of both my monti colonies but just havent had time. I am at work right now.
