Hi all,

I recently bought a RO/DI filter and a Tunze auto top off for my future seahorse tank. I know that only the water evaporates but not the salt, so I shouldn't add salt to the reservoire water. However, should I add Seachem equilibrium? Or acid/alkalinity buffer? Or is it just only RO/DI water without any supplementation that goes in the reservoire for the auto top off system? I would be worried about it messing with the pH my seahorses will need.

Thank you in advance for any guidance!

You do not need or want to add anything to top off water unless you have determined that the tank needs those things.

FWIW, if you add totally pure fresh water at pH 7 to 35 ppt seawater at pH 8.00, the pH in the seawater rises, not falls, due to the freshwater addition. Common sense loses out to real world chemistry. :)
