On my current 80g Deep Blue build, I built a hood to house my Reefbreeders Photon LED and added 2 supplemental T5's, one in front and one in back of the LED fixture. They are non dimming so I plan to have them on a timer. I was thinking of having them come on only during the 4 hours of peak intensity of the LED schedule. The tank will be zoa/paly dominant with some torches and hammers, cyphastreas, plating montis and some other easy SPS. Should I be concerned of anything being "light shocked" when the T5's turn on or not a big deal?

I'd be interested in replies to this question too. I have a few photon v2s as well with dual t5s down the middle between them.

I have my T5s go on from 12:30 to 8:30pm not part of my peak and staged on the half hour to transition from dimmer times before and after the t5 schedule since the photons ramp on the hour.

But I have no clue what I'm doing with lighting.

I'm running 3 kessil a360we's along with 4- T5 bulbs. I run the T5's for four hours currently to start out. I'd like to get it up to six hours. No coral issues so far with the extra light.

I am mainly concerned about corals being "shocked" when the T5's turn on. I have never used T5's before, but heard they can help balance out the LED's. If anything, I may be underpowered on lighting on this build. I will see if I have any shadowing on the ends. Granted the tank is only 18" high, so light penetration will not be a problem, but the T5's are the only lights that get out to the ends of the tank.
