Supplements For A 20 gallon Reef Tank

If doing a 10 percent water change every week would supplementing minerals be necessary. I am thinking of two clown fish and two smaller fish with how many corals? Will be keeping the water clean with activated carbon and 10 member cleanup crew. Thanks all

It all depends on the concentration of corals, how fast they are growing, and a few other things (such as nitrate and phosphate)

I have a thirty gallon, which is maintained with water changes only. Take a look at my build thread. If I was you, it is early in your development and I wouldn’t worry about dosing yet, just watch your system and how it stabilizes with your water changes I think you’ll be fine for a long time.

with everyone above, dont worry about dosing for awhile until you have corals and some decent growth. For a 20 tropic marin all for one will probably work perfectly just monitoring alk and calcium mostly.

Plus dosing is a lot easier than it sounds so even if you get to that stage, it is really simple

I would suggest water changes only. You don’t need to dose until you have more corals than water changes can provide calcium etc for. When you start going from low to mid coral stock, look into a better salt suitable for heavier coral stock.
