Background:
Last year, I lost 4 fish to an unknown cause. The fish would be eating well, then start loosing weight. Next, they would slowly start eating less, and then stop. They would become reclusive and eventually die. This was in about a 3 week period when I noticed something was off until they died; all with no signs of disease or injury. I never figured out what it was. So far, for about 9 months all has been good. I've added a few more fish; no issues.

Current Problem:
For the past month my Potter's angel has not been eating as good as he has in the past. I've had him about 7 months and he normally goes right in and eats great. Lately he hangs back, follows food, but has started to eat very little. His weight looks good and he has no signs of illness.

Given the tank history of the unknown fish deaths, I'm a little worried. However, I really don't know what to do other than make sure he has a variety of good food available.

Just to give some system info, I have a 93 cube that's 2 years old. Some fish I have QT'd, some not. The fish that were not QT'd came from divers den (I know not perfect). I've never noticed signs of disease in the tank. All fish are fed rods, lrs, clams, mysis, nutrimar ova, and occasionally spectrum pellets.

So, what would you do? Try to intervene? Just let him be? I don't want to cause additional stress if its unnecessary. Or am I just over reacting? (just really don't want this to be the start of whatever killed the other fish) Thanks for the help!

Did you ever notice white stringy poop?

My potters eats alot of nori. I don't see him eat frozen much, but he picks at rock all day and does eat from the clip.

My guess is when you lost the 4 fish it was probably something disease related or something polluted the water. That's about the only way this can happen.

Conditioned fish that are QT'd properly typically don't stop eating. It's usually something causing it.

Currently if you have a DD fish that you recently placed in tank without QT it's almost a 100% gurantee you have got a disease in your tank. I am struggling to get fish from LA/DD through QT they are coming in with so many issues.
