Surge system

Does anyone still use a surge dump system on there reef tanks still. I thought about putting one on my new build. Just want to see how still uses these old school devices. Would like to see pic or vids if u have any.

Still being used in Indiana by allot of reefers and shops there. Micro bubbles **** the corals off bad. I'm working on building one that doesn't splash as bad

There was one created that created no micro bubbles, but it used a electronic gate valve and float switches.

A solenoid controlled valve could open and drain the surge tank and close before it was completely empty thus not sucking air. All about timing
