As I was looking at my algae trough tonight I noticed a bunch of hair algae in there which is what I want, but I also noticed about 2 dozen polyps.
They are soft, I thought they would be hard because they look like little 3/8" buttons but I touched them and they are soft. They are at the beginning of the trough where they get the most turbulence but the lease amount of light.
I don't yet know what they are but when I get time I will have to turn off the skimmer to stop the water flow so I can see them better and take some pictures. I have never seen these before but it seems that I get this a lot, things popping up from no where.
I can't tell if they are tropical or something from local NY waters.:squigglemouth:

Here are some of the little suckers in my algae trough

Never seen anything like it. That's one great thing about saltwater, all the surprises that pop up.

I would like them to be ****take mushrooms. I would throw them on the grill

Here are some more "corals" that I found growing in my algae trough. Now I find them scattered in my reef. I like them.

OK I was Wr....Wro.....Wrong. I hate to say it and many people on other forums told me but they are not corals but an invasive form of algae.
So invasive that they may take over my tank. I will soon find out.
I finally removed some to take a better look. Not a really good find, but it is what it is.
Bob Goemans is a friend of mine so maybe I will call him to discuss it. He talks about a similar species here.

It looks to be invasive. If it takes over the tank I will just get another hobby, like raising Emu's. I wonder what kind of light they need? :squigglemouth:

I kept a bunch of them in a small tank, they seem to be invasive. So now it is a challenge, and I love challenges.
