Surprising Eyesight of Starfish

Did you guys know just how relatively advanced the eyesight of some starfish is? Apparently Linckia are actually able to orient themselves towards reefs using only their eyesight according to a relatively recently published study! Many people know they can detect light but the fact that they can actually see in low resolution is surprising and helps them stay in their natural habitats without straying too far!

I feel like so many people look at starfish as just having a very basic anatomy and body structure but they're actually incredibly complex!

Sorry to hear that... I just received an "Instock notification" about a Red Serpent star...so I went ahead and bought it.

I am pretty stoked about having it in my aquarium. They are quite the carnivore. I already have my starfish food ready. It is amino acid soaked chunks of octopus, shrimp, crab, clam & mussels. Yummy yummy. If I can keep him full maybe he will leave my crustaceans & snails alone.

I hope you get this while you are awake during daylight hours.

Serpent stars are a great choice! They tend to fare much better in the aquarium than starfish such as Linckia. I used to have one and he was a real joy! It's 7:45 AM here now btw if you were wondering.
