I was terrified about my move my apartment had flooded and mold started growing landlords did nothing i was forced to move to a new place. But what ever was i going to do about my tank ? I started by draining half the water into gallon jugs (way cheaper then 5 gal bucket ) i then filled a 5 gallon bucket with tank water. Added my 3 fish cleanup crew and star fish i closed it with a lid after adding a bubbler to circulate water.
I then filled abother 5 gallon buckey with tank water i added my live rock 2 anem and a few other corals i closed the lid on that. After that there was about. 5 gallons of water left in the tank.
We then moved the tank into my pick up all yhe water and made the move
Once we got to the new place the real fun began we had to treck 36 gallons of water 20 lbs of live rock corals anems. 3 fish plus 1 star and cuc
Up 28 stairs i tried my best not to slosh the sand unfortunately my friend tripped
NNOOOOOOO
LUCKILY MY TANK SURVIVED THE FALL
we continued to move everything in. At this time i put all but 20 % of my water back into my tank i took the time to do a clean up. And water change

Since my rock was out why not use a different aquascape ? So i rearranged some things

I added my fish and corals. So far so good

After all was said and done my tank looks amazing and everything survived i was more then positive i would have dead fish or coral

Here you can see my new aquascape taking the time to do a different scape was nice i went with a 2 cave formation leaving a more deep depth feel above the rock

Thanks ! I think i might have been more. Stressed then the fish

I think that's what causes most issues when moving a tank. People stress so they rush to get it over and done with so they make mistakes or take shortcuts. I moved my 5gal 3 times in just as any months with one move being 5 hours away and never saw any issues. I only had one death, that was a sea urchin I just could not get off a rock. I must have tried for 45 minutes!
