Looking over my tank today I realize there are several corals that go gangbusters, and several that probably haven't grown in a year.
I'm sure there's a rhyme or reason to it, but they haven't shrunk or degraded, just chugging along. I don't feel there is value in adjusting my parameters as they're great for a majority of my guys.

Curious about what other peoples thoughts are on those corals in their own tanks that are stagnant. Do you dislike the fact that they aren't growing? Or are you ok with them just being themselves.

Every tank is different and for some reason a lot of people find that there's something that they just can't keep for one reason or another, often even when things look great on paper. While other stuff grows like wildfire. I've had corals just sit there and do nothing for long time and then suddenly explode out of nowhere. I've also had corals just **** the bed for no apparent ryhme or reason. Chalice just do not do well in my tank. But I've got tons of other LPS and sps all doing great.

Another good example. I have an M. Setosa that has just sat there for like 4 months. It hasn't grown at all. Looks healthy has great color and polyp extension, but hasn't grown at all. There are other monties less than 6 inches away that are growing like wildfire. Oh well, it's still pretty and interesting. Maybe it'll take off at some point.

I have experienced this. Wanted a tank full of montipora and zoanthid. Couldn’t keep a zoa alive. Later on same tank, lobo and blasto, micro no problem, acan were a no go.
Some coral just seem to go dormant for a while, then for whatever reason. Some encrust like crazy until they take off. I had one gobstopper polyp for 8 months, now there’s 4 in one month. Probably be 16 polyps in no time.

They might still be acclimating to your tank, not all corals can acclimate in hours or days. I've had corals that just survived for many months, sometimes even a year (it feels like), and then bam, they just start growing.

Yep, I have a single polyp left of a chalice I got last year....still waiting for it to encrust, cause havoc and sting everything. I tried another one this spring, solid frag, grew a bit, then something happened. Most of the other spring corals growing well...frag of day glow favites is hitting the sand currently and that was the smallest and most expensive piece.
