I recently purchased what I understand to be a "reef safe " angel. Genicanthus semifasciatus aka a spot breast (angelfish male). I haven't found too much information about him, he's currently in quarantine so I was hoping someone could let me know things like his food preferences and any special things I should know.

I've kept several swallowtail angels at the store and never had much trouble getting them to eat what all the others do. Frozen mysis is the main diet of my fish at the store which is supplemented with vitamins. I feed other things like pellets, nori, roe and anything else I can store-use without getting into trouble. Sometimes we get live black worms in, but surprisingly enough, not many of the fish take to them for me. weird.

We'll get some fishy experts in to advise... @evolved , @eatbreakfast [HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG]

Just noticed I put this in the wrong sub forum.... But I guess it fits here too.

The genus Genicanthus are planktivores, mysis, reef plankton, LRS, fish roe, will all be good choices, then when accepting foods well, adding pellets or flakes will work too.

I also find that many fish don't go crazy for black worms.

So I'll take the nori clip out of the qt tank.

Combination of mysis and Bloodworms is what I started mine off with. Now she eats any food I put I the tank.

Mines still hiding. Isn't coming out for food. I assume that's normal? I put some lrs in there and he's still hiding.
