Hi everybody, so I got bored of the look of the rock, tried re scaping moving etc but still don't like it so I decided to have a look at some custom aquascapes that are made out of manmade rock. So I want to remove all the rock I have now and replace it with new man made rock I know this is not an easy job so there is what I'm thinking, and I would love your to hear your opinion.

- Get the new scape/rock and cure it for about 2-3 months.

- Remove like half of the rock out of DT and replace with new and eventually remove everything.

- Add ATM colony or similar

My question is what can possibly go wrong? I have quite few sps mainly acropora frags and loads of lps and softies am I taking a big risk even with cured rock?

Currently have about 10 fish in the system and over 60 frags

How would you approach?

Thanks

Welcome to R2R!

If your tank has been running for a while and has a sand bed watch out for the disruption of sand and what you might kick up in the water column. The amount junk that gets kicked up is sick, even in a tank that's been running for less than 2 years, and i can only imagine on tanks running much longer than that unless you vacuum your sand bed every week.

If your bare bottom you should be good to go with your schedule of changing rocks out. You might get a bit of diatoms on your new rock, but should back off sooner rather than later.

Thanks Jose,

It's a bare bottom running about a year, so you reckon I should be ok then? As I don't want to spend few hundred on a new scape but lose 2k live stock not worth xd

I think you should be ok as long as you swap out the rocks slowly, and also as long as the new rock has been cycled/cured for a couple of months.
