Hi fellow reefers,
I am suspecting my rockscape is leaching silicate. Got my Tock from a German supplier korallenwelt. It manmade ceramic. Am running GFO with no success.

Am unable to get a microscope to determine whether it's a diatom, cryno or Dino.

Was thinking of changing to West Mariculture bonsai reef.

I have two questions:
1) any feedback on west mariculture bonsai reefs
2) if I decide to do the swap, how can I do without affecting the denitrification. I have corals and fish . It's a mix Reef tank. Tank is 11mths old. I have bio media in sump tank.

Thanks

If your going to add it all at once, then I'd fully cure all the new rock before removing the old rock.

Really?? Then whats the benefit of using it? No biological filtration to be had from it??

My initial thought is to add more bio media in sump to compensate the absence of live rock

Hmm, I'd have to agree, the stuff is just for holding corals. My apologies.

If I decide with the west mariculture structure, my plan is to plan more bio media in sump now and allow it to mature in the system till end December. Replace the existing rocks in January with west mariculture structure. Any thoughts?

Did you follow through on your west mariculture structure @Kilo ? I too am thinking of going this route. Did you run into any problems or anything significant ? How is the biological filtration? What size tank? Do you have any pictures?

@terri_ann, I just ordered a piece last week from west mariculture to replace 1 (50%) of my rockscape. This model was sold out so they are making it again for me
My tank is 150litres. Here’s some pictures

Do you have any updates regarding your West Mariculture structure? I'd love to see how it's looking after the past seven months.
