Swapping to varios controller

I have a elite 200 skimmer. It's been brand new in the box for about 9 months, just finally got water in my tank. So my question is, can I swap the old red controller to the new style and utilize the float to turn the skimmer off? Is the pump the same and just the controller is different?

The pump is the same. You would just need to swap the controller to upgrade the pump on your Elite skimmer.

Did you end up doing this? I know this is an old thread, but I bought the RODC5500 --> Varos 6s upgrade kit, looking forward to a little bump in performance. Just wondering how it turned out.

I did do it. So my skimmer has the newer controller

I did too, and it works great. I needed some bearings as well as mine were seizing, so I picked those and a new impeller up at the same time as the upgrade. Their support is second to none.
