Swc 230 cone w/Askoll1500 pump problems

Hows this for an idea, laguna max flo 2000 what would be the con of going bigger??

I called them yesterday. Laguna uses the same serial/ item number for the discontinued 1500 and there current 1350
# PT8240-pt344
Just to make a 1500 that much harder to track down.
I soaked my pump overnight in vinegar going to put it together today. If it dosent work I'm going to try the 1350.
I just wish someone else would have tried it first lol.
It seem like a lot of here say, the blocks being the same.

I know someone who did try the 1350, two actually and it does not work. I can't find the laguna max flo 1500 anywhere these days.

Have you done a search over on RC. There is a guy there who is pretty knowledgeable about this very subject and has pointed many in the right direction. His name is Slief.

Never mind I see you were posting there as well

Pumps are the easiest things to troubleshoot :-)
Does your magnet spin freely on the ceramic shaft?
Is there any splits or cracks on the magnet (due to heat from lack of cooling water)

Is the back bearing good in your pump? If so, I have an older Alpha 250 pump (1500 block, needs the back bearing) and I know it works. Forgot I had it. Pay for the shipping and it's yours. I already popped it off the white base that the Alpha uses. Check the bearing and let me know. I don't need it because I run a Lifereef Venturi skimmer.

So to put this to rest I went ahead and bought myself a Laguna max-flo 1350 waterfall and filter pump(thats what its called)
I took it apart to the motor block. It is identical to the 1500 in every way.
The block the impellers its a direct replacment for the 1500.
The 1500 is 100 watts
The 1350 is 70 watts

Looks good. My guess is that it might be a bit less powerful maybe since it's less watts.

Now onto the pin wheel. Looks like that will need a bit of attention. That will be even harder to locate.

Let us know how it works for you

I removed the pinwheel from my original impeller and pulled off the green
One from the new impeller. The askoll/swc fits perfect. I did bust a few of the pins off the wheel but oh well, it happens.
I will update performance. Also the 1350 is 75 watts not 70

Might be able to run it a little deeper if the performance is less, although I doubt this will make a drastic difference. I don't think you will notice much difference.
