So about three weeks ago my skimmer started messing up again.. i ordered a new impeller from swcskimmers.com. Well i got tired or waiting and i email the people at SWC and find out that the card i used was declined 3 times for some unknown reason and they never once told me or sent me and email. I am highly mad because 1) i dont know why the card would get declined because i use it almost everyday and 2) why would they not contact me and let me know that the order did not come through 3 weeks ago?!? very upset and i dont know what to do about my skimmer still

Ok i went to the website but didnt see a replacement impeller for my skimmer. Should i leave a comment on his website?

i thought about that.. But Luke emailed me back and he told me to check and clean everything again because he said my problems sounds like the venturi is completely clogged. So im gonna clean it again and hope i just missed something the last two cleanings but what exactly is a venturi and how do you clean it? If that dont work im going to replace the pump all together

I took that part out again and the hose but nothing there.. Still did the same thing when i plugged it in but i softly blew into the hose and it worked so could there be something clogged in the top part of the white tube where you adjust the air plow???

The venturi is the round piece where the air tube connects at the bottom of the skimmer. And then that connects to the pump. This is where the water and air enter the pump and the impeller then chops the water and creates bubbles.

Like I said before, just replace the whole pump.

I have 2 SWC 160 cones that use this pump, and the pumps just suck thats all there is to it. I have to blow in the venturi of both of mine to get them to start once I've shut them off, and every single person I know that has this skimmer has the same issue. I had one pump burn up on me so I had to replace it. This is pretty universal with these skimmers. The pumps are actually a Via Aqua 2600 with a needle wheel impeller, or the upgraded needle wheel with mesh both of which you can get from Luke. Luke has told me the pumps only last about 2 years.

My advice is, if the pump starts when you blow in the venturi and runs fine then that is the best you are going to get. If you can't get it to run, snag a Via Aqua 2600 for ~$30 off amazon and reuse your impeller.
