Swiching from Kalk to Calcium reactor.

Currently dosing Kalk(mrswages) at full saturatuon.
7,425 mils per 24 hour period.
Maintaining 9.3DKH

When swiching to a Calcium reactor is there a recomended starting point/drip rate? To maintain this 9.3DKH
Will be using reborn.

Also do you recomend completely stopping kalk and swiching to the reactor or use them in combenation and slowly back off the kalk?

I use both. The residual CO2 in the water from the calcium reactor will react with the OH- from the kalk to help maintain your Alk.

How large is your system?

Yeah, I dose 3 liters per day with a 180gal system. But, I have that calcium reactor too.

I would keep both going and start with a slow drip for a few days then measure you calcium (and Alk). If your corals are starving for Alk or Ca, then they will consume what you start with and you may not initially see any increase in Ca or Alk.

I think you will have to go at it by trial and error, rather than a calculated transition.

Thank you, 4 months ago I tied in a 75gal sps tank and this is sort of a experiment keeping a softie tank with sps only Separately and I'm wondering if I'm going to see a difference with the reactor a as far as trace elements go.
Besides that I never ran a reactor before never had any problem with dosing kalk so I hope I'm not shooting myself in the foot.

I went back to your build thread & I see in the now that you said in the reefhobbyist article, you dose kalk at night to keep pH up.
Would you be losing the pH up benefit by switching to a reactor?
Far be it for me to give an opinion, but it seems like you're only dosing 0.6% water volume, which I would guess is a small fraction of your daily evaporation
