I got a nemo from a friend, who got it from a seller when purchasing some other fishes. I think the sellers tank was a "goner", because of it seemed that he had stopped taking care of the tank.
Then the clown lived in the sump for some weeks, until my dt was done cycling.
Already on the way home I saw that the fish didn't swim as good. Mostly laying on the bottom of the bag. I guessed stress. But no. The fish was newer 100%. But I don't regret it. Couldn't let the poor thing live in the sump....
But now I struggle with the moral if keeping the fish alive is ok.
I have 3 fishes in qt, because of a tang with ich. He is now swimming even less than in the dt. Laying for the most part beside the pvc. In the dt I rarely seen him laying, but with the classic clown odd positions, ex horizontal against the corner. I have newer felt is from bloating. He is heavy in the back.
I have had him for several weeks. On the other side it dosent seem right to put him down, because of a handicap. Hes a fighter and looks to wanna live. But again, maybe the best thing is not to...
Im guessing he may got if from maybe high ammonia/nitrate values from the first home.
I see several white stool in the qt tank. Cant for sure say its from this fish, but there where one large stool, and he´s double as big as the two other. But also seeing several small pieces.
So my last hope is to treat him with antibiotics for worm/internal bacterial infections, both gram positive and negative.
My problem is that, yes he is eating, but as little as I see it, Im suprice hes not skinny. When the food drops right in front of him, and I can see hes thinking about it, many times he´ll just pass. Other times he can really swim fast to get exactly that piece. Now in the qt, he looks kinda depressed....
The first days of qt I lost tang and a bellus angel. I didn't get my ammonia alert before in the two days qt prosses. I feel really bad because of what happened.... I would think that this guy would be the first one to go, but hes the same old self. After that he qt has been stable and all fishes looks very good.
So.... The feeding with ex kanaplex and binding it w/ focus may be a problem. Is it something I could put in the water, to treat for the same?
If not, would if be off the table to feed the fish with syringe? Hes not that week that I can hold him in the water, I would have to take him out. I feel some few times would be perfectly fine, but if needing to treat for 10 days, I can see that that maybe would be to harsh. But my gut feeling is that it would be ok to try.
I cant get my head around that I got this fish. From my time with freshwater, I was in love with Guppies, and was interested in breeding. From the tank with the new babies, I could right away see one who didn't swim like all the other. I decided to take care of it. And you know what, that fish got old.
I did need to nurse it all life, but I loved that fish so much! On top of the tank I had a big plant the fish could rest on. He did swim a little bit, then rest, and over and over again. And gosh that fish looked happy! I can only describe it like a tang. Meeting me and swimming after my fingers on the glass.
And who would guess it that I got the same thing, as my first marine fish..! But its not the same. I don't feel I can manage to help this little guy the same way I did with the other.
Soooo... what to do? Im a little afraid also to treat with strong medications, because the two other are perfectly fine. I think some milder meds could do the job for the two other fishes. But I understand if one fish has it, the rest probably too. The other fishes is a baby clown, and a gramma or the royal. I did read up about it, but have now forgotten about it! Arg. I remember the store said its a false, they are not as aggressive like the real ones. But then I get so sad of thinking to split up the two clowns. He really seems to enjoy his little friend.
Would a dip be as good as feeding?
I'm on my second last transfer on the ttm.
Thinking of dosing prazipro after the last. But is that only for external?
I would so so love to that veery of this remaining fishes will make it to the new dt after all this bumpy road. Its now air drying for several days, and then it gets new sand and rocks.
Grateful for all help!
