Now that my system is well balanced and the sticks I have are growing and glowing I am looking to add to the collection. I did get a bunch of frags around labor day that were not WYSIWYG and when i got them they were swimming in glue. All have settled in and are good to great. As I shop around now it seems that every frag that is a good glowing frag is a nub swimming in super glue. Does anyone allow thier frags to encrust anymore? I remember YZ...something that every stick he sold seem to have started encrusting. I have watched the feed back and who likes what vendor. Even those that are rated tops seem to have this swimming in glue thing. Is it safe to assume these frags are healed? How can one tell when the whole base is covered in glue. Do i just trust those top vendors, since they are tops peeps must be pleased, right.
Also why the change? Its super glue. A little goes a long way. Is there some benefit to the glue glop?

I also hate that. I also don't let frags leave until it's encrusted and you can't see any glue.

The only good thing about swimming in glue, is that it surrounds the cut. If properly cut and cleaned and glued their is less of a chance of infection and or algae on the coral.
time cost them money. the colors are "better" and no algea on plug if pics are taken after cut from the mother colony.

I do like frags healed and encrusted, but these vendors need to have turnaround and make a living too.

Just my 2 cents

So in the coral world its quantity over quality? sorry im new to this.

With sps I would rather it be a newer cut because I plan on removing it from the original base anyways. It needs to be settled in tho. Of course zoas are a different story. I agree that you will prolly see more new cuts with globed glue from someone selling out. Product demand. Cut a frag of purple monster and wait for it to encrust to sell......like wine and waiting .... no one has the room for that.lol. i have bought colonies that have deid within a years time also. Everything dies and you never know. JMO
