Hey guys, I’m from Arkansas, I switched from keeping discus and other freshwater tanks for several years to a reef tank a few months ago.

I have a coralife 32g biocube mixed reef with a few of the usual upgrades except lighting at the moment. I feel like I can finally enjoy the hobby now instead of it feeling like work.
I do plan on upgrading the lights to either the Steve’s LED or an AI Prime HD in the next couple weeks. Not sure which yet. (Opinions welcome!)
I really enjoy reading all the articles and posts on the site and look forward to learning even more.

Hello and welcome to R2R, great look tank!!:)

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef!!

Steve's used to be an hot idem for those hoods.
If you want to keep your factory hood, his systems are a great call.

If you want to go open air and have WFI, the the Prime is really nice too and you can download profiles.

Once again:
Welcome.... :)

Welcome to R2R!

If you're new to SW, I would suggest reading #15 in this article first: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-01/eb/

I have found myself referencing this article more than any other, not just to anyone new to the hobby. The nitrogen cycle is only the startup of a SW tank cycle. The next 6-12 months is a maturing phase, and it's typically in this time frame where algae outbreaks occur and things can sort of roller-coaster, and if you stock the tank up too quickly, you might see corals randomly dying & fish getting sick, etc...people who are relatively new to the SW hobby (or never bothered to study this aspect of it too much) can very easily fall into the trap of chasing problems = making more problems => giving up and selling everything off. We don't want that to happen to anyone!

Long-term stability and balance are the keys, and you just can't shortcut the process significantly. That's always the #1 thing to keep in mind!

Welcome home, you will love it here!

Nice cube, thanks for sharing! :)

!!! Welcome to R2R !!! Nice tank and aquascape. Same here, I was keeping Discus too and Cichlids for a few years and make a partial switch to Saltwater but just a week ago I sold my last 55g Mbuna tank and went complete to Saltwater. What a difference !!!

Welcome. This is a great forum so many knowledgeable people that are eager to share knowledge without be degrading. I came from fresh too, but I still do fresh. I have 6 fresh tanks and 2 salt. I enjoy breeding my cichlids and I dont ever see myself getting away from it. I have a 180 with fronts I'm hoping will start to breed soon and the ones I have breeding already are in a 125 then I have grow out tanks 20 55 and another 125.

My reef tank I have the Mars aqua 65w I ordered 2 from Ebay and they have been running for about 9 months and I very much like them.
