Hi! I have a 25g total volume, and have been using the liquid Red Sea Foundation Calcium and Alk for 1 year.
At the very beginning I was led to believe that it's good to have absolutely 0 nitrate and 0 PO4 even though in my tank I have only softies and LPS and 3 montiporas, therefore I kept doing 25% water changes every week. Now, after few losses months ago, I realized my tank thrives with higher nutrients (1-2 NO3 and 0-0.4 PO4), I have reduced my water changes (like once a month or so).
My worry is that by reducing water changes I am not replenishing trace elements as much, therefore I was trying to get a more balanced dosing solution like ESV B-ionic. Do you believe it is a bad idea? I currently keep my alk at 8.5-8.7 and Ca around 400-420, will I be able to do that with the B-ionic without messing up with the other stuff it adds (i.e. Mg)?
