Hey reefers,

I am currently using AquaVitro 8.4 dosing regiment (consists of like 4 or 5 different chemicals), which is nice and is growing corals but it is getting pricey and makes it harder if i decide to go on vacation for someone to be able to take care of the tank and i can not do a complete auto doser on it either as have to keep part of it in the fridge after opening.

I was looking at switching to the B-Ionic 2 part solution as it seems a lot more simple if i would go on vacation and to put on a doser. Also, price wise, B-Ionic is much cheaper than what I am currently using.

What is the best way of switching over and minimize shock to coral and fish? I use Red Sea Salt as well

Calculate your alk consumption.
If it’s nor super high , calculate the new Esv dose and then under dose.
Keep an eye on it and plan to do a wc if it falls faster than you expect.

The fish will likely be uneffected unless you overdose alk (ph spike), and I’m not sure how much of an issue that may be.

Besides Aquavitro 8.4 (which is an alkalinity supplement), what else were you dosing?

Ions is magnesium, Vibrance is iodine

@Steven91 how did you transition go? I am in the same position as you, ready to switch from Aquavitro to B-ionic.

It went well, corals didn't like it at first but after a few days everything went back to normal.

How did you go about converting your dosages? I use about 9ml (1.25dKH) of eight.four daily and 4.7ml (9.4ppm) of Calcification in a 36g SPS tank. This should translate out to about 18-19ml of ESV daily each. Did you find your calculations to be accurate? How much of each are you dosing?
Reason I ask is I am fairly certain Calcification has been supplementing my alkalinity even tho the bottle does not say so. As a matter of fact, I can almost guarantee that it has.

8.4 I believe is more potent than the b-ionic, I did find out that I am using more b-ionic but I can also get it in bigger quantities for cheaper so I'm saving more regardless.

did you just kinda wing it and test daily, or did you go off some sort of conversion calculation?

Little bit of both, I did a little conversion (I think it's about what you figured out) and tested daily until I got everything stable again
