Ok first off i just want to say i have been using reef crystal for several year and have had no problems but over the last 6 months i have gotten two boxes with elevated magnesium levels. My tank went over 2k within two water changes. Now is my fault for not testing the water before doing the change but i figured after all this time it was cool... Lesson learned. Either way i talked to a ton of people and many recommend the hw-marinemix as its man made and known to be very consistent when it comes to cal, alk and mag. I made the switch a month ago and have been testing each batch of saltwater prior to use. 1.026 getting 410-415cal, 9.24-9.30 alk/hanna and 1300-1320mag. I keep my alk around 9.5 so im happy with that level. The full video will be linked.

It's really a preference thing imo. I mean magnesium is one of those things that is really hard to overdose. I dose all my mag for the month at once. So it spikes the Hell out of it every time. Not to mention it's low before the dose.
I was talking to the owner of a store I buy coral from and he's really big in sps. I was using hw salt and asked him what he used. He buys Kent marine in bulk. He told me that almost all salt is basic sea water levels. And our systems run higher levels. Although all brands add this and that to make theirs seem worth the extra money. But the bottom line is we dose what we need which is usually higher then what your buying. I run my calcium close to 500, your test of fresh salt water was under 450. Why pay more for salt that your gonna supplement anyway. I was paying like $75 for a 40lb box of HW. Through marks shop he charges $40 for a 69lb box.
High mag you should just look at as a lucky box! You won't have to dose mag as often! Really in the end its user preference. Whichever salt you have confidence in is absolutely the salt for you!
