My sand bed has been very brown so are the rocks. My no3 is around 10ppm and po4 0.20, alk 159, Ca 440 and Mag 1400. I clean the sand on every water change but a few days late it's all brown again.I do have snails and Sea Cucumber, Tiger Tail. Currently running Triton CORE7 Base Elements 4 Part Balanced Ionic Solution. I would like to switch over to Aquaforest on my 4 year old tank.
thanks,
Ed

I will start some GFO in my reactor. I was thinking about starting with Aquaforest Reef salt, Component 1+, 2+, 3+ Bundle, maybe Pro Bio S Probiotic Bacteria or NP Pro Liquid Bacterial Growth Polymer. Please let me know if this is a good start.

Do you think it might be algae instead of cyano?

Ummm.....you said brown but this is green....:confused::confused:
Just lower down your PO4. You can use GFO but half of recommended dose. You can start using Pro Bios and NP pro but again half of recommended dose.

Thanks!!! I will use half of recommended dose of GFO, Pro Bios and NP pro .

Should I also use Aquaforest Reef salt, Component 1+, 2+, 3+ Bundle?

thanks.

Not all at a single go. So wait on the salt and the components. After a month you can shift. Don't change too many things at a single go.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself,I know slow is smooth. For corals (I mostly have LPS) that are not extending as much. What coral Nutrition do you suggest?

thank you so much,
Ed

I would say keep the big 3 stable until you get switched over... what are you nitrates and phosphates at? I wouldn't start using aquaforest quite yet. You can use pro bio s and np pro to help with nutrient export, then once you get your Algae under control then you can start introducing the others slowly.

I have been using GFO, Pro Bios, NP Pro and AF Reef salt for almost 3 weeks now on my Red Sea s650 tank. I have been dosing around 3 to 4 drops per day. Corals look much better. The sand and the rocks look a little better.
My levels are : No3 ==> 7, Po4 => 0.08. Alk 135ppm, Ca 450, Mg 1350. Below are some pictures of my sand and rocks. I also have so much little particles blowing in my tank also on my fish trap (that is another story!!!). Do you have suggestions what I should do?

thanks,
Ed

The tank look nice including the SPS. The parameters are spot on. The particles can be small sand dust so if they don't bother you just leave them alone. Otherwise you can change a bit of flow so that the sand dose not get blown away.

I still have so much algae in the rocks and sand bed. Someone mention on another site to use another media source in the sump such as Marine pure blocks for the bacteria to grow in. What do you think about that?

Whats wrong with little green algae if its not bothering your. You can add siporax but that will take time to work and will reduce your nutrient further. Its your call let the system run more and solve the algae issue by its own overtime. I will wait more before I change anything.

Thanks, I will let the system run more and solve the algae issue on its own overtime. I tested my No3 last night it was still 10 and Po4 is 0.04. Should I increase the dose on Pro Bios & NP Pro from 3/4 drops to 5 to 6 drops on my red sea s650?

thanks,
Ed

You can as you have not reached the full dose yet.
