Switching Salt Mix?

Hi Randy

I'm switching from RC to IO salt mix. Is there anything I need to be concerned about?
5 1/2g change of 47-50g total water volume.

Not really.

Calcium will be a bit lower, so depending on how you maintain that, you may need more. I use limewater with it, which tends to raise calcium long term anyway, so it works out better for me for it to start lower.

I don't think anything else changes, except you need not worry about storage of the water and the stability of the organics that are in RC.

I don't think that RC has more trace elements than IO, on average, but dosing them in general is a reasonable thing to consider. I don't, except for iron (and silicate, but that's not a trace element).

Hi Randy

In anticipation of lower ALK/Calc in the IO I've raised my 2part by 3ml each. For a total of 36ml daily.
ALK=9.0
Calc=380 should I be concerned with this low number?
Mag=1400
Ph=8.2
SG=1.026

FWIW, the alk in IO is not much lower than Reef Crystals.

Those are tank numbers or new salt water numbers?

The calcium will probably continue to slide a bit, since IO is a bit low, so I'd do a one time bump to about 420 ppm.
