Hello everyone. I need some advice. I currently have a 75 gallon mixed reef tank with a CPR over flow. I have access to a 75 gallon tank with a corner overflow. I was debating on replacing my old tank with the new one with the built in over flow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Or should I say no and leave well enough alone?

I would say no since it’s not really an “upgrade”. But I mean other than the overflow is it a nicer tank? Better glass? Different dimensions? I would hate to disturb good running tank just to go back into technical the same thing ya know! Just my opinion :)

I can understand the want to upgrade from a HOB overflow. The CPRs take up some real estate behind the tank, and if you don’t have an aqualifter it can be a pain.

I would definitely weigh the pros and cons on switching over. You’ll need buckets for the sand and the rocks as well as the fish. Work on draining down, removing rocks gently, and then grabbing fish. Then net the sand out.

Any pics of your current setup vs the new one?

IMO don’t do it.. I would however consider replacing the CPR with one that doesn’t require a pump to keep it going.
