By all means isn't a bashing or complaining thread, but rather a feedback one. Ive been noticing the average time that a thread will be displayed on the "home" screen is around 10-15 min. Its an average of course, but during times where everyone is active (around dinner time), it can be less than 5 min.

Reason I bring this up, is I did a search in the unanswered threads section here and the number is quite high. Few of mine have fallen here only because the sheer amount of active users I think. Having a large community is great don't get me wrong, but it has its drawbacks and this is just one of them. There's literally thousands of users yet so many threads go unseen/answered. Could just be window shoppers, or people whom aren't confident or even knowledgeable enough to post, i get it.

Perhaps switching the 15 allocated slots for Recent Threads with the 25 that the Sponsors get, could help more people to see more new content at once. Now I get that the revenue flows from these companies to fund the site, but aren't we all here to get some info and questions answered ASAP? Switching the 10 sponsor slots given to general threads could help the "mean" time in which threads stay in the "lime light" so to speak. For conciliation, move the sponsors up to the top with 10 slots, and general threads where sponsors used to be with 25 viewable threads...?

Sure, we can use the search bar for related topics and previously created threads, but I have a question about a relatively new piece of equipment that I KNOW I wont be the first and only one to ask about. I think having 30 threads that are vaguely similar on here clutters things up and will add to the lack of response, because someone already poured everything they had into a response in a similar thread that was skipped because of this dilemma. Sometimes ill click on a thread at the top of the list and by the time i get done catching up, its already gone!

Just my .02 is all.

-Thanks

Well put and I added 10 more threads so we can see how it does! :)

Also the #ReefSquad is pretty good about getting to unanswered threads so if you see one then tag them!

Thanks.

You 'da man Rev, i don't care what they say... :)

I honestly didn't know hashtags would alert a certain "group" of a topic, and that genius. I thought it was just Millennials being kids and using that subliminally out of habit, from social media, hah aha! thats too funny because it makes since now. Not just kids being kids, but using it as a means of a "Bat Symbol" of the reefing community.

Nice!

Love this! I was wondering if it was possible and it turns out it is:) While the reef squad hashtag is an awesome tool. There aren't many who know how to use it and while there is usually a reef squad member online, this isn't always the case and that particular member might not be able to resolve a particular issue or answer a specific question. This is where I feel there is a definite benefit to letting new posts and threads linger a bit longer so all the members have an opportunity to answer threads and questions as they are much easier to see.

Oh on a side note to that and another thing I feel isn't really mentioned, you do not need to be a "Reef Squad" Member to follow the Reef Squad Hashtag. If you feel you have a lot to offer and are more than willing to help out other members, you can follow the Reef Squad Hashtag and any time someone posts it you will be alerted too. :)

Hahahaha #reefsquad is like a reef bat symbol xD I love it!!

I'd like to add that the Reef Squad also tries to keep an eye out on the unanswered threads. Some times they slip through for reasons of confusion or because the questions asked are outside of their specialties. This dedicated group of volunteers works hard to try and make sure every question is answered.

Did someone call? I will just add that the RS does do a great job on keeping tabs on the unanswered threads but as @Brew12 just said, sometimes even this dedicated group get stumped!

What! I thought I knew everything! Not! Lol Just joking!

When, and it happens a lot, that we can't answer a question I try to "bump" the thread. By typing "Bump" places the thread towards the top of the general questions/threads list. It does take it off the unanswered list.

Why do this? It exposes the thread and question to everyone again, instead of getting buried. It hopefully allows someone with a answer to come along. Most of the time this works.

In some cases I ask the #reefsquad to jump in.

By the way, reef2reef is huge and we do the best we can helping everyone we can.

Can someone give me a link on how to hashtag or @. Have no idea the difference. Embarrassing

Couldn’t find it in search. Saw a mentor thread but not sure I was in the right place. I am forum illiterate. I don’t do Twitter Facebook or anything else. Now a telegraph I can work the heck out of.

On your key board type #, then reefsquad with no space between the # and reefsquad, like this #reefsquad.

When you want someone to chime in on a thread, type @ and the name of the person like this:

@Flippers4pups

No space between @ and the name.

When done correctly, it will be highlighted blue.

Easy enough. Thanks

Idk if theres a link...but you can usr the # without spaces to summon #reefsquad #mods or to alert people to posts like... #Welcometor2r or #reeftank365
Now to get a members attention you can put @ in front of thier name again no spaces and they get a notification... @Mastiffsrule

Beat me to it....:p
