I think it’s happy!
Plate coral and other coral will inflate like this. My plates would move across the tank and land on top of other coral and then eat them slowly by warfare and stealth!
Acanthophyllia are another coral that will inflate like this. I don’t know if these have been documented moving around like this in the wild? I have seen aggregations of tongue coral in a sand indent near a reef crest in a lagoon and I suspect that they all got there by inflating and riding the currents into the same valley?
Do you feed your elegance? It might be glad for a nice chunk of squid, shrimp, or salmon, they like meaty food.

How did your elegance do with this. I have one and the same state as that one. Curious if things went well or if I should do a freshwater dip for potential ECD or???

It’s not a happy elegance at all, it’s the beginning of the end for it I’m sorry but when that happens there is nothing you can do to save it, there is a name for when that happens i just can’t remember

@dkelley That's a happy elegance, do nothing. Be alarmed when LPS deflate for long periods not when they are inflated.
Even with tentacles that are very short? It's been in an odd mood half closed the last week so I threw a towel over the portion of the tank to block light in case it was too much. I've only had the thing a month. At first it was long wispy tentacles and the coral was open, then half close, then this super puffy no tentacles deal.

No mucus or white stuff, oral discs don't look bad to me but I'm not an expert.

The pics I took don't show how swollen/puffy it is. I'm game for the puffy but why are the tentacles all retracted if it's happy? Curious if I should do the freshwater bath to treat for ECD or just wait it out. WAY too many conflicting opinions. :(

Maybe the OP will chime in.

Inflated mouth with short pilyps looks like ECD. @OrionN has an article on it
Thanks. I have read a couple, not sure if it was Orion. I do know that one of the treatment articles just did a fresh water dip for 15 minutes, like tap water...... Maybe that should be the first go to.

Do people think I need a QT tank on this or will a dip and place back in DT be good?

I don’t remember about QT but he applied this to PMD for clams and did recommend moving them for clams. Here’s the article
