Fell like an idiot today. I am trying to setup a DIY water change using a small pump attached to a hose. i want to attach a 1/2 hose to to the inlet and outlet of the pump. I get the sicce 0.5 since it advertised have barb hose inlet and outlet. I just cannot figure out how to do this.

Disassemble the intake screen and attached the hose adapter. However, as you can see from the last pic, the shaft and impeller assembly easily pull out along with the hose adapter.

Looks like i need the separate the the plastic piece that control the water intake as shown in the second picture. I cannot figure out how to do this without breaking the plastic piece.

Manual is not helpful. Google search is not getting anything either.

It should not be that difficult but i'm an idiot. :)

Anyone have a clue how to do this?
