I just received my new tank with a 20" Synergy reef overflow..i also had a sock box /sump built ..the 2 bulk heads on my sockbox are 1" this is were my drains from my overflow will be dumping into..,the synergy overflow is 1.5...my question is were would you reduce the pipe to 1" ?would it be wise to continue the 1.5 pipe right up to the sump then reduce it to the 1"gate valve.?or should I reduce it right out the overflow box at the bulkheads.i also have a pretty long horizontal run to the other side of my sump, from what I've read this can cause issues ..any advise would be greatly appreciated

If you are running a lot of flow thru ur sump I would remove ur bulkheads and use the 1 1/2 the whole way into the sump. The bulkhead holes should be 1 1/2 so the pipe should fit in.

If you are not running a lot of flow I would downgrade the one inch right at the overflow box

What is pretty long? Over ten feet?

Is there anyway to make it a 45 degree run for that seven feet? If not ur going to need a level and make sure the pipe isn't horizontal and that it has some type of slope towards your sump.

I'm Def going to pitch the pipe good i have room..im thinking maybe to 1.5 inch drains up to the su.p then switch to 1 inch just incase i decide i wany more flow or get.a bigger return pump i don't have to change the drains .does that make sense

I mean yea it does but I don't know plumbing does weird things.

Ur going to have 1 1/2 plumbing all the way to the end then downgrade it to one at the sump I have no idea what will happen in this scenario it could work or it could cause a problem making the system go full syphon after a restart or harder to adjust the beam animal to make t dead silent

To me I would make it either all 1 1/2 or all one inch from the beginning this way it's the same the whole time. And if there is a problem when everything's done with u know it's not the plumbing.

I will also say I do not know tho nothing could happen and it could be great switching it to one inch at the sump.

Also a one inch full sphone pipe does like 3000 gallons an hour that's a lot
1 1/2 does 6000 so think about that as well.

But I would recomend making everything out of the synergy overflow 1 1/2 just in case you want to use it at 1 1/2 you will not have to buy another one because once it's glued in there is no going back
