hehehe That's a good idea...never thought about filling it up like that to test for leaks...smart cookie...
Well I got rained out on porch tonight...then bf decided to have me 2nd guess my sump setup...So trying to figure out if I
have to flip it around...So I chose to dry fit in the filter sock in and hook up return lines to return hose/pump.
So let me ask ya what's ur opinion on way I have sump setup?...will get front side pics once it passes leak test
and gets in its final resting spot in the living room. :)

I am assuming you are putting your skimmer in the center chamber? I think most skimmers are designed to operate at the 10" range so is that deep enough? Also I am always curious as to why people put that last baffle in there before the return pump. Seems to me that will just cause splashing which will cause bubbles which will end up going thru the return pump and into the DT to make micro bubbles. Also is it higher than the skimmer chamber baffle? I think that is just going to fill up to that level which I think sort of makes the first and second baffle obsolete

What are the heights of the baffle on the right and the 2 on the left?

baffles on left section where pump is at in pics is....1st pane is 11in tall, then 16 1/2in tall and last pane is 10in tall
baffles on right are... 2 pieces 4in tall ea for a total height of 8 3/4 in. there is a gap between the 2 panes where sock is...

oh I almost forgot...I was planning on having it...return pump where its at in pics...middle section
macro algae and section where sock is skimmer and sock would share that section.

That's backwards. Water enters the sump where the skimmer is and should have the highest baffle, then refugium area, then a baffle about 1 inmch shorter than the first one, bubble trap with an inch gap under the baffle and then a final baffle if you ewant to control water height for your return pump. It'll make sense when you run your return pump. The guy in the video does his bubble trap first, but that part doesn't matter so much.

Ok so flip the return pump and socks filter...and spin the sump around then glue it....
Thanks again for the help

yes flip it around. the reason the person did those 2 baffles with a gap inbetween them is so that the water will flow through the middle of the refugium section. Basically your water height in the skimmer section will be 11 inches high and the refugium and return pump section will be the same h eight. What kind of skimmer will you be using?

ummmm reef octopus skimmer I have a pic of it....

ok here's the pic of the reef octopus skimmer

Dude we got it from said it had to be 6-8 in from bottom so I still need to make a stand for it in the chamber

That was exactly what I was gonna suggest to you next, lol

Ok all glued in no leaks in pvc pipe...
But I do have 2 leaks I think...hehe and I think my overflow might be defective. Just my luck... I had 2 drips one onight each side of overflow that sits in tank....left side drips worse. Will suck what water I tested with and do it again and will get pics...and maybe video....brb

Can't upload the video so will empty water and will.try to post from laptop...give me 15min

It's from the bulkheads in the outer box it from the bulkheads that connect the 2 boxes?

ok heres the video hopefully it works...well couldn't get it to upload...so I uploaded it to youtube.
Here's the link....

my bf doesn't think it will be a problem since it will be under water or he thinks it will.
How do I fix?

so inside the tank you have the flange of the bulkhead, inside box, gasket, glass, gasket, outer box, then the nut. The gaskets must be in contact w/ the glass on both sides.

yeah, I think its like that...I quickly looked at it and it looks like there is tank between gaskets. Was gonna take box off and make sure tonight.
Also bf swears hes found the leak in box...heres pics of both sides...he shined a flashlight in the box that sits in tank...and place his phone under box.
See the light gap? I'm thinking of smearing silicone on the leaks if me taking it apart and putting back together doesn't fix it.
leaking in tank is better than leaking out of tank like my 20gal that's leaking from bottom rim somewhere...
