T-5 questions

Long story short, can I go from 2 5' t-5 actinic blues to 4 2' actinic blues and expect it to give me more blue or will it not matter? Also will going two blue and two purple bring more color out? Another option is to do 2 more 5' sections, but that's going to be alot more work.

Well 24" T-5 HO's are 24watts in power each so you would have 96watts of T5. Two 5' T5HO's are 80watts each so you have 160watts of T5. The addition of purple will bring out more florescence in your corals, so yes it would help with color but not be as bright. I would add two more 5' T5s and go with ATI bulbs as they put out more PAR.

That's what I was thinking, two purple and two blue. It's going to be a tight fit in there though.

I would do 3 ATI AquaBlue+ and a ATI Purple + If you really want the blue purple combo. For full spectrum I would run 2 ATI Aquablue+, 1 KZ Fuji Purple, and 1 ATI Aquablue Special. But if you want the intense actinic effect, I would just use the first combo as it will be brighter and you will still have the purple light in the mix.

I have halides as my main lights, I'm thinking about going back to 14k bulbs from the 20k now. I am trying to make up for the loss of the blue from the actinics.

If we are talking sps more blue will make them floures more but will not necessary make them color up. Most sps come from shallow water and prefer a more wide spectrum. Depends on what you are looking for.
