T-Bucket's Red Sea Reefer 450

I like a spare scape with big rocks like that. I'm only running about 30 pounds in my 40 breeder, so clearly I have the same thought. I hate it when I can't clean the sides easily because the rock gets in the way or not having enough room for the corals to grow in. That open space is so much nicer.

In my last tank I had a tough time cleaning the glass because it was so full. I can clean everything easily, and the water flow in the tank is where I want it to be. I'm just hoping the corals fill in the spaces well.

Dang now I'm thinking about doing just a couple huge rocks as well for my Reefer. Here's my Max C-130 now and as you can see the scape is cool and all, but not much room to put corals or have them grow out and the back glass is really hard to clean.

That's a great looking tank, doesn't look too crowded.
I definitely like being able to easily clean the glass.
If I hadn't had a packed tank before I would have made a wall with holes, arches, etc.
I just wanted clean and simple and I'm glad I went that route.
The tanks i've liked the most are the minimalist ones with grown in colonies. They have the most appeal to me. But to each his own.

Well with Hurricane Matthew on the way (I live in Florida) it looks like yet again this build might be put on hold. I pray this storm doesn't wipe my current tank out and the rest of my friends and family that are going to be affected my this storm stay safe. I've lived in Florida my whole life and this is the first hurricane that I've actually been seriously worried about. Pray for me and my family.

Good Luck and stay safe!

I am using the sps ab setting from the ecotech coral lab. Running at about 35% max if I remember correctly. I will often push the raise button on the fixture to brighten the tank though.

Well HURRICANE Matthew has come and gone. Tank is alive, house is ok, family is ok. Lots of cleanup to do now. Hopefully can get this new Reefer in the house soon.

I wouldn't say the tank looks dark, but it's not super bright either.
I'm worried about burning the corals.
The pics I posted are what the tank looks like at normal intensity. I changed the color spectrum for the photos so everything wasn't blue, although the color of the corals was lost in the photos.
I'm afraid to change anything because i'm getting good growth and everything seems happy.
I'm also running a UV sterilizer and the water is crystal clear which let's more light through.

Never thought I'd actually want the weekend to fly by. This Tuesday, October 18th, is my new tank setup and install date, FINALLY. Stay tuned...

My motion sensor under cabinet light came in. The Micro USB charging cord it came with was not long enough so I went to the store and bought a 10ft cord, should be plenty long enough now. This light is extremely bright, might be overkill but it sure is awesome!

Working on getting the wall fixed. Hopefully will have enough time to get paint done before the install tomorrow.
