I wouldn’t expect many responses. If any. The current R2R active membership base is likely dominated by people who have never even heard the term VHO and wouldn’t be able to even guess what it is in reference to. The types of people who still hang in there with them are the ones that used them originally when they were a popular option. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Melev still rock the vho super actinics?
 
I have 10 or 12 good reefing friends that still use them as supplements. You might find one of them on a message board from time to time. They have world-class tanks, are sick of fighting with the noobie know-it-alls and do not need much help ever, so they don't hang around.

I have a pair of Super Actinic on my 225 that come on before and after my Radiums are on.

Well maybe they can just post pics of their tanks if they disagree are world class, would be cool to see and show the newbies what is possible without all the new stuff that's marketed as a must have otherwise your not successful, lol
 
Point is they got bored with arguing with people on forums. You’re not going to tell a retiree with 50 grand worth of sps and 20+ years under his belt that it is his responsibility to put up or shut up on R2r to all the newcomers. They’ve long since moved on from all that. You can check out some of the archived lighting debate threads on reef central from 2000-2010 to get an idea
 
Sadly many pics from the reefcentral days are gone. Not all... but image hosting places come and go. There was one big image hosting site that decimated the photos in one fell swoop. I forget the name.

I don’t mean it to be snarky, I just don’t think you’ll find what you seek on here. I would wager among active r2r members only a handful are running them. And they probably won’t see this thread. If I used them I’d participate but I don’t. I’ve seen them on some locals tanks and in some shops within the past few years so I’m aware of what they look like.

funny you say that.....on reef central, my tank was the #1 viewed picture ever.....It didn't deserve it, but it was the #1 viewed picture ever, and now there is no image or record of that.

Many of them are here. They just appear to lurk more then post. I recognize a lot of the nicknames. But like all hobbies people come and go over time.

But with that said many members here have beautiful tanks that rival anything on rc. Lots of skill and talent here.

No, I think Melev has XHO leds now instead.
I spoke to him about it when he changed a while ago and he told people he couldn't find VHOs anymore.
Sent him couple of links and told him that wasn't true!
I guess he didn't care much anyways and wanted to change for those leds.
He is a very nice guy!

After LEDs took over, only a few number of the old school guys are still coming here.

Maybe all the T12 guys left after being abused by the metal halide noobie's. J/K.
They all left cause they got tired of reading the same stuff. Sand bed arguements caused more grief then LEDs have.
