T5 advice..

Hello R2R,
I have a 30 gal tank that is 24x24x12 and have only LPS in this tank.
It's been up and running for awhile now but I have been through 3 LED fixtures and have not been happy.
I now have a 24 inch 6bulb ATI sunpower. (Overkill for LPS only tank?)
I know ATI fixtures are powerful, so how high above the tank should I have this light?

I would say you would be fine just use more actinic bulbs if to strong I would start at maybe 14" or so

Thanks for the reply! What would be a good 6 bulb combo for LPS only? No sps..
And how long should I run my T5 photoperiod? I use to run my LEDs, blues 12hrs and whites 6hrs.

depends on what color you are looking for. are you looking for 15 or 20k look? 4 actinics, 1 roseatte and 1 6500k will give you a 15k look

I think LPS like bluer spectrum? So, 20k?
I was thinking of running:
ATI Blue+
ATI Blue+
Geisemann True Actinic or KZ Fiji Purple
KZ New Gen
ATI Blue+
ATI Blue+
What you guys think?

My photoperiod is 2 Blue+ on from 9am to 9pm, all 6 from 12pm to 6pm.

C'mon all you successful T5 users. Please help a reefer out..
I have the light @ 15" above tank, so that's about 27" from fixture to sandbed.
I am lowering it slowly but where should I stop?

stop when your corals stop looking happy. i run 4 ati ( 2x blue + 1x aqua blue 1x ati purple) 24 inch fixture in my 20g long frag tank its about 6 inchs obove the water and my frags mostly lps are about 6-8 inchs in the water. if its to low you will know, your corals will tell you by looking P'ed-off.

Thanks! I do like this combo. I'm more worried about frying everything with the fixture too low.
How tall is your tank? And how high is your light mounted above? Also this is LPS only..

Yea I agree 6 t5 will.need to.be higher then a 4 bulb. I use tek light, all ati bulbs.

Do you keep chalice or acan in there? Also how long is your photoperiod?

yes chalices, acans, 2 stick sps (1 green slimer, one blue acro?? idk) tons of zoas, frogspawn, montis,. mushrooms, a lil of every thing, 9 hours of light with hour of blues only in the morning and night

So you run the blues for 11hr and the whites for 9hrs?
