Getting ready to place an order for bulbs over the next few weeks and trying to figure out the combo I want to go with. I have a 48inch 4x54w t5 fixture(solar extreme from deep blue) I was thinking of going with
Geismann:
Lagoon Blue
Powerchrome midday

ATI:
Purple Plus

What other bulb should I add, or is there any issues with the combo I've already picked? I have a mixed reef, mostly softies but have lps as well.

I have a LPS heavy mixed reef and ATI Blue Plus was always good to me. I highly recommend you add it to your combo. It's high par with a great blue color.

Never heard of the Lagoon blue lamp . Is it new ? I just got in new bulbs . I went with HexArc Blue t5 lamps .
These bulbs are made in the same factory as the Geisemann t5 lamps . The 460 blue looks very close to the Actinic plus lamps and the ATI blue plus bulbs . I could not tell a difference .
The prices are very reasonable . EG: 10.63 for a 54 watt 460 blue lamp .
It's hard to mix in a purple plus lamp with just 4 bulbs

I would do
3 HexArc 460 Blue lamps
1 HexArc Ocean Blue ( 10-14 K color )
1 ATI Purple Plus

I say this since you'll save quite a few dollars . You can at least swap out the P+ with the extra 460 Blue if you don't like it .

I got them from Premium Aquatics who is also a sponsor .

Yes lagoon blue is brand new from what I understand.I would like a slightly more blue look dont want my corals washed out when I take pics(i.e too much white spectrum) Was thinking of giving it a test Its a 4 bulb fixture so maybe
Lagoon blue
Powerchrome Midday
Purple Plus
Hexarc 460?

The best blue 4 bulb combo I have seen was on the lil tank forum.
The user name was Travis .
He used

2 blue plus
1 actinic
1 fiji purple.. similar to the purple plus.

The thread shows pics of all kinds of combo's.
PM me if u want link to the thread.

ATI are hands down the best bulbs on the market par wise for their kelvin ratings. Unless this new Lagoon Blue bucks the norm for the last several years, it will be similar to an ATI bulb in color but have less par. Also, do not use a 420 or 460 actinic type bulb in a 4 bulb fixture, they're weak bulbs in general with low par and will not be as useful as an ATI blue plus.

I would suggest 3 blue plus and an aquablue special, 2 blue plus and a 2 coral plus would be another good option.

The lagoon blue is supposed to be a turquiose and blue with white spectrum, gotta see some reviews I guess im kinda interested to test it out at least. Thanks also for all the responses, very helpful.

My guess is it's their answer to the Coral Plus... Geismann makes good but not great T5's, I do love their MH bulbs though.

I just read up on the lagoon bulb. It looks like something between a actinic plus and a aqua blue bulb
It is touted as a 16 to 17k Colored bulb. Proly puts out a lot of par . I can see why the op wants to try one.
Not too white to wash things out n not too blue . :
