Got a cheap coralife 48w 2 bulb 24 inch T5 light for my zoa tank. Tank is 23.62 x 14.17 x 7.09

Couple questions:
Is just 2 bulbs enough to cover the tank?
How high should i mount them?
What 2 bulbs would be best for growing zoas? Im thinking ATI Blue plus for one but no idea what to do with the other.

Also considering adding a reefbrite if these 2 bulbs arent enough to cover the 14 inch depth.

Thanks for the advise, I have zero experience with T5's

My answers are to achieve the best out of the zoas, not to save money buying equipment:

No, get the ATI Sunpower 24" with 6 bulbs.

How high should i mount them?
Up to 6 - 8" above water surface.

Depends on how many bulbs you will put over the tank.

Having the 6 bulbs you won't need to spend any more money and will already have the best light.

Good luck!

I already got the coral life 2 bulb... for that what would the best 2 bulbs be?
Also would you suggest the reefbrite xho or the lumi lite pro?

Just saw this on ebay.

4 bulbs, seems like a bit of a step up from what I have

Im trying to keep this cheap. Im actually taking the ai prime thats over this tank right now for a new 25 lagoon build (2 primes total).

Do you think my current 2 bulb setup with a reefbrite would be better than that ebay one i posted?

ATI Blue Plus & ATI Coral Plus would be my picks.
Zoas aren’t picky.

Thanks, that seems to be the popular pick, will it still be pretty blue or alot of white?

Do you also think these 2 bulbs arent enough for a 14 in wide tank?

2 bulbs will be more than enough for zoas. If you want lots of blue you can do 2x Blue Plus. They have all the ‘spectrum’ you’d need for zoas.

I think you're confused. You need to choose the type of fixture you want first and plan to get it. I don't put price tag before my priorities setting up my systems, so I don't suggest to others. I think quality is what's important in the long run. We call this a hobby, but we are keeping live organisms.
I can't just suggest 2 T5 bulbs if you are still undecided about the fixtures in the first place.
ReefBrites does not substitute T5s.
If you keep asking here everyone will give you all different types of suggestions and you'll be even more confused. Set up your priorities and go for it. If the priority is cheap, you won't get the best out of your zoas. You get the results for what you pay for.

Seems like you want someone here to tell you what you want to hear.

What? Unbelievable. LOL!
This new mentality is just so sad! I better stop posting in this thread!
No hard feelings.
My suggestion was already posted.
You guys have fun...
Peace.

6 bulbs for a 14” wide tank is overkill for zoas. Your suggestion would be good for more light demanding corals.
Meanwhile, I have zoas growing in dark spots of my tank.
Everyone has their preferences.

Wait just reread, seven inches wide? I can't imagine you can fit much more than two bulbs over a seven inch

2 bulbs is enough 4 would be okay also. Im guessing the tank is only 7" deep? My only thing is reflectors Which helps push more light into the tank. For what you have the blue plus and coral plus will do just fine.

YThe tank is 24x14x 7 high. Thanks for the advise, I think thats what ill go with. If the color isnt palatable for me i'll add a reefbrite. i like it pretty blue.

No, you are confused. I didnt ask how you set up your tanks or what fixture to go with. If you read my original comment correctly you would have known i already have this 2 bulb fixture. I bought this for $40 on here knowing zoas like T5's so i figured Id give this a shot before i sunk more money into this because im already setting up another tank currently.

Seems like you need everyone to take your advise. Even when it wasnt asked for

Is this tank really only 7 inches deep? Are you running this with just frag racks?

The tank is 14 wide x 7 high

No i have a carribsea arch and a mini arch in there

face on is t5 no filter, top down is ai prime with a orphek filter

It has an Ave Point coral wave and an actinic in it at the moment, way too white for my taste. But hoping the ATI's look better.

Here some inspiration for you boys... 2 X 250W metal halide and 4 X 54W T5s:

The system above had T5s only for 10+ years!
Offer the best and you will have the best results!
At one point my T5 6 bulb ATI Sunpower was only 4 - 5 inches from the top zoas. Best colors/health and reproduction, just like in the ocean. Treat your corals with love and give them the best you can!
I know what I'm talking about.
