so I have bought a 60 inch T5 fixture. 8 bulb.

I am trying to make a T5 burn in station for the bulbs. Are there any DIYs I can get help from to make it that tells me about the wiring and the right power supply etc.

I don’t want to buy another retail fixture - they are too expensive.

Any ideas?

How are you T5 users burning in your new bulbs?

I personally never worried about "burn in" and only replaced a couple bulbs at a time, with a week before replacing the next set. I never had any issues with coral acclimation that way.

I would love to hear from others on what they think.

Thanks for your input flippers.

I have an non dimmable fixture. I would have thought that’s even less of a reason for me to get a burn in station.

Though fluorescent tubes do have a short burn in time and their PAR can change, what's why you want to change them typically at 12 to 18 months of use, not changing them all at once is advisable. Shouldn't have any problems doing so that way. Take a marker and Mark them with the date you change them so you know which ones need to be changed first. Hope this helps you.

Agreed, I never worry about burn in. I will change up to 4 bulbs art a time and I have never had any problems.

Allright great. ThNks guys. I will drop the idea.

I also replaced 2 bulbs per week when I used t5. Never worried about burn in.

If you really wanted to do this, I'd recommend the LET diy kit from brs. Comes with everything you need except something to mount the end caps to. Could just be some plywood for this purpose.

I was under the impression that the burn in was for use in dimmable fixtures ????
