Never used T5s ever my new set up came with one t5 unit that's 6 feet long. I need to find another 6 foot unit. So my question is what is the better/cheaper route to take should I just get a 6 foot t5 unit or is it cheaper to get a retro fit kit? Also anyone have any straight forward info on t5s like I said I never ever used them only LEDs but I will be going with a hybrid system this time as I have heard lots of good things about them. Thanks in advance!

Grifty I am not aware of a 6' T5 bulb. Did your fixture have 3' T5's end to end? or possible 5' T5's that were staggered?

For what it is worth (since you mentioned going hybrid), a 5' ATI LED T5 Hybrid Powermodule will have no problem lighting a 6' tank.

It is certainly cheaper to get retrofit kits, just keep in mind the reflectors will be more exposed to the salt and they lack cooling. Its a very effective inexpensive option, but there are some sacrifices.
