im gonna build a 8 bulb t5 fixture... any recomendations on bulbs?????gonna light a 48x24x12tall frag tank sps dominate and i like the blue look 20k+ lol....

Bulbs

Hey I use the German made ATI bulbs. They work great and provide the best bang for your buck. I use 2-36" 39w bulbs on a 29 gallon tank. One Aquablue special and one Blue Plus. This gives me about 3w per gallon and I'll probably add one more bulb on a separate ballast for sunrise/sunset.

is the blue plus a white bulb or does it put off blue?? whats the difference in aquablue and blue plus?

The aquablue is maybe a 12k and the blue+ is like an actinic but with much better par. I run them in my tank an love em. Next I want to throw a pro color in the mix. There was a guy from Portugal on RC that has a huge prop setup and runs aquablues and blue+ and has great color and growth. I'm happy with the growth and color I've gotten out of them.

My combo is very blue I actually run that but with two 22k A S bulbs and it's like attinic all day with great growth.
