Hi guys, just purchase a Matrixx ii 8x80w unit a few weeks ago. It really seems hot even though there fans are working.

Hopefully ATI users or other T5 users can share if these TEMP numbers seem to high.

Seems a bit high. You want the air temp around the bulb to be ~95f at the cold spot I believe.

Cold spot is where the bulb labeling is.

Are those measurements air temp? Or surface temp on the bulb?

Hum, not sure if i can get them since i'm using a laser pointed temp gun and its hitting the plastic shield. So the goal is to have 95d on the end of the bulbs , wonder if i can pull back the shields while its running to measure that area. Do you recommend measuring the metal par or the glass part?

Wow this isn't good, i'm measuring 180 degrees where the ATI label is!!!

I was doing the same as you last week. I was measuring the glass. I ended up pulling my acrylic off. My fixture doesn't have a fan, so I need some way to cool the bulbs. Interestingly, the bulbs started pulling more power (20w more) after that:
