I’m setting up aquaticlife t5 hybrid. Will use a pair of radion XR30 (non-pro) + 4Bulb T5
Tank 36x22x22
objective: sps dominant
How to get a good spectrum?
New with hybrid?
What are some recommendation on T5 selection? What T5 combo should I use?
Thank you :)

There are two combinations that I like to use.
The first one is
2 ATI Blue+
1 ATI Purple+
1 ATI Coral+

This was recommended to me by a coral vendor here on the forum

The other one is
2 ATI Blue+
2 ATI Actinic
Bulk reef supply uses this combo over their BRS160
I'm currently running the second one with an AP700 and so far it's working out great.

I currently uSe the first option. I like it but I’ll be trying 2 blue plus and 2 actinic next go around

Is that the order of the bulb from the front to back

2 B+, 1 P+, 1 C+ seems to be the go to choice for a 4 bulb combo although I do like the spectrum and results seen with 2 B+, 2 C+. Plus the radions can take care the actinic right.
I was considering this route, curious if anyone has tried 2 c+ And 2 blue +

I’m not sure I like the purple. It’s whiter than expected. Coral plus even more. Depends if you think it’s washing out some of the coloring. I’m running b+a+b+p+ at the moment but will be opting for another actinic in replacement of the purple.

I run p/b/b/b

I agree that the purple looks too white. Next go round I’ll be getting rid of it.

A lot of good suggestions above. I'd recommend 2 blue plus and 2 coral plus for an SPS dominant tank (or 3 blue plus and 1 coral plus). A lot of people like the purple plus bulb, but I find it is a bit too much in a 4 bulb setup. The blue plus and coral plus combination may be whiter than what you are used to, but for an SPS dominant tank, I think "whiter" setups actually do a better job of showing the true colors on SPS corals. For LPS and softies, I prefer a deeper blue looking setup that really emphasizes the fluorescence of the corals. In tanks such as that, I might use a setup such as 2 blue plus, an actinic, and a coral plus or purple plus. Or I might just use 4 blue plus and use my white channels on my LED's to tweak the color to my desired color.

As far as how to get a good spectrum, all the T5 bulbs will give you good spectrum. If you really mean how to get a FULL spectrum that is going to encompass your various color / spectrum nm peaks, then just be sure you have at least one daylight type bulb such as a 6500K, 10K, aquablue special, coral plus, or purple plus. Any of those bulbs will provide you with full spectrum to varying degrees. Obviously, the 6500K and 10K bulbs will provide a lot more in the non-blue peaks, which tends to be overpowering visually for most people using a 4 bulb setup. Thus, you don't see them typically mentioned much as an option in the T5 / LED hybrid setups.

I liked the look of 2x B+ 2x A more than my current 2x B+, C+, A. I now run my Kessils at 0% colour, fully actinic setting and it still is a bit too white. I have A160's so they're not output power-houses and at this point are probably more supplemental to the T5's than the other way around.

I am running this combo with G4 pro over my 93 cube. I run the G4 at about 60% with the AB+ program. This four bulb combo is what @Big E runs and i like the look of his SPS.

Just wonder what is AB+?
Also any pics of Gen 4 xr30 + t5 (2B+, 2C+) ?
Gen4 and pro? Any differences in color?
