T5 Hybrid with black box (viparspectra)

hi everyone,

So I setup my second tank it’s a 120 gallon 5 foot tank (first one is an IM nuvo 20 with 2 ai primes). I didn’t want to take a second mortgage out for lights and read that people have some good luck with viparspectra lights so I bought 2 to get started.

Thinking of an upgrade plan and ultimately I want to get to a T5 hybrid with radions or something equivalent.

I’m thinking as an interim step I can still do a T5 hybrid but with the viparspectra’s, was looking at gieseman hybrids and they seem to provide 10” and the viparspectra’s are ~9” so they should fit.

Any reason not to do this? Will I have other issues fitting the viparspectra’s on the Hybrid frame?

I'm not sure how you are fitting these together physically, but i"m sure it can be done. As for the Viparspectra leds, they provide light that is just as good as any light a Radion puts out. The difference between led fixtures is way less about how good the light is and way more about the features and options.

Viparspectra’s only need 9” so they should technically fit.
