Can old t5 lights cause red slime algae? Not sure why it’s growing so much. My levels are in tact .12 phosphate. And I have proper flow. Had this setup for 2 years and now this red slime is getting out of control and getting on my sps corals. I keep trying to brush it off everything. Not sure if it’s cause the t5 lights are getting close to that 1 year mark. Can’t remember if it’s been 1 year or not. Might be a little over. I don’t have t5 on my entire tank cause I’m too cheap to get the whole tank just 2/3 and the side where the t5 isn’t there I don’t see any red slime algae.

not sure if it’s from the t5 lights or I need to replace some of my cartridges for my rodi unit. Going to wait till I get paid next week to get new t5 bulbs

I have the same issue. I'm running a T5/hybrid setup. The T5's are no more then a month old. I truly think my stems from outside air and allergens/pollen in the air. The issue goes away in the winter and gets real bad in the spring. I've done 3 Chemi-clean treatments this spring with to only return within weeks. My Skimmer pulls air directly from outside and I have 3 big Mesquite tree's dumping stuff all over the ground. I've added an air filter for the Skimmer so I'm going to see if this helps with the issue. I really don't think the lights cause the problem they just perpetuate it.
