T5 light shield/hood

Hi all!

In the process of changing lights. Tank is 15x12x12. Wanting to go to T5s but the smallest bulbs that I would like (ATI) come in 24". So I would be looking at a 24" fixture over a tank that is 15" wide by 12" deep. Figuring that I would need to build a "shield" around the outside to cut down on some of the spill over since the light would be about 5" over on each side. Anyone do this successfully? I would be hanging it so thinking I could make something out of black plexi or similar. Too much effort? Have an older Prime non-HD now and just not happy with the growth.

I don’t have any ideas for that. Have you thought about maybe using something like an AI prime 16. Cost should not be too much more and give a slick look and more control

I have thought about the Prime 16HD since I already have to mount. Had a Gen1 non HD since 2017. Not sure how much better the new one is. Anyone seen a comparision between the old and the new?

As a kid I had 4 ft tubes over a 29G...ugly but works. Yours should work fine too.
