T5 Lighting suggestions

Not really... It's just not that much compared to other electricity expenses
Think of an 8 bulb 48 inch fixture. That's approximately 400 watts an hour. Say you run the lights 10 hours a day. And say your electricity cost is $0.15 per kwh. That comes to $18/ month.

And cost of running
Meh, its semi mitigated in my case with the offset of heaters not running due to the heat the t5 produces. Also factored in with the blanket light coverage they offer it can't be beat besides MH and that's a whole different beast in itself.

I'd cry for .15 per kw hour, I'm paying .33-.42 per kw hour.

My 8 bulb fixture was a salvage from a construction site

I changed the ballasts 2x over the last 20 years
My old Fowlr setup was the same thing, I used one of the hydroponics fixtures till recently on my current 120g but ended up going to let reflectors so I can add led's.

I run 6 aquariums 3 salt water mostly all t5 with some 165 watt led mixed in, all the heaters and pumps, I my pay 30.00 per month for everything. This months power bill for a 2100 sqft house was 175.00. I do feel lucky to have cheap Washington power.

Big tank-ATI blue plus and reef Brite 50/50-my favorite bulb.
Little tank-blue plus coral plus.
2600 square foot house, 4 tanks running in Idaho-$139 bill last month.
Lucky with my rates as well.
All I have are T5's.

The reefbrite 50/50's are truly my favorite bulb. White with the slightest tint of blue.
