adding a dedicated frag tank for lps growout to my system and am leaning towards using four t5 bulbs. just curious if this sounds like a reasonable bulb combo:

ati aquablue
ati blue plus
ati pro color
kz fiji purple

i know this doesn't have any white in the mix, but am hoping it will be enough light for the favias, chalices, blastos, and acans i will keep in the tank. the favias i currently have on my sandbed approximately 30" below 250w ushio 20k halides have bleached some, and the frag tank is only 8" deep...hoping this t5 bulb combo will be plenty for good growth and great color.

any input appreciated...

o man the ati procolor and kzfiji have a somewhat dominant color from when i used it in my tank, .........i would just choose one or the other..........i would pick fiji purple cause it has more par than the procolor

cool - good info... so they are both prodominantly red in color? i have seen the pro color in person, but not the kz fiji purple.

what would you replace the pro color bulb with then?

blue plus........IMO........aquablue special is a daylight bulb with a hint of blue...........KZ fiji is a daylight bulb too that brings out the reds, purple and pink.........so you already have 2 daylight bulbs just add a blue+

ok - thanks again! exactly the info i was looking for.

i think i will do this then:

blue plus
aquablue
fiji purple
blue plus

agreed...I use this combo, plus another few bulbs in my 6 bulb fixture. Like the color, but if it's growth alone you are after, many people still go for the GE 6500k or 10k daylight bulbs.
ok - thanks again! exactly the info i was looking for.

i think i will do this then:

blue plus
aquablue
fiji purple
blue plus

ATI no longer makes the procolor or that what ReefGeek told me. I would do 3 blue+ and 1 fiji purple or 75/25 there both about the same color

this is what i ended up with:
