T5 Retrofit Canopy - Stupid question

This might be a stupid question... but really not sure.

I have a 36'' width tank with canopy. I would like to add a T5 retrofit kit.

They sell them in 24'' and 36''. Given the tank itself is 36'', does a 36'' inch kit fit?

Do people by a 24" inch kit for a 36" inch canopy or are the kits, slighty under to fit the canopy?

The 36” kit will fit with no problems. Did the same thing on my setup.
