I have an ATI Sunpower 8x80 watt. Yesterday I had a socket arc. Now the middle 4 bulbs won't fire. Obviously I need to replace the fried socket. I have taken it out and looked at it. I hope it's easy to replace. Question is do I need a socket that is specific to that fixture? As in an 80 watt ho socket. Reason I ask is I would like to see if I could find a replacement locally so I can replace it and see I the bulbs that are not firing are in relay and caused by the fried socket or try to decide if I have fried one or possibly 2 ballasts. I don't want to have to wait days for a socket and then another bunch of days for ballasts if they are needed.
Thanks:)

Hi.
I've had some experience with VHO endcaps arcing. Mine were BJB's with watertight seals that melted along with the plastic!
I've always opted for local "fixes" whenever possible. I've found the local kind to be less hazardous to my wallet, lol. You should not experience any adverse effects by not matching sockets. All they do is provide electrical contact. Just make sure to rewire the replacement the same as the original!
Good luck.
