In a few months I'll be purchasing a cadlight 70 artisan. I wondering which lights would be the best for growth and coloration. If I go T5 they need to have mounting legs because I cannot hang them per my lovely wife! Any ideas would be appreciated

So right now I have a 360 kessil over my 30 solana. I have a Kessil a150 from a previous tank. Can I put both of these over the 70?

I don't see why not. But what are the dimensions of the tank and is it going to be sps, lps, softie, or mixed?

I use a a360we over my 36" tank as well as a 2 bulb T5HO fixture. I got the T5 fixture on eBay for less than $40 and changed the bulbs to ATI actinic and purple plus. This combo seems to keep the color similar to the color with Kessil alone. I like the way it looks. I think a 360 and a 150 might look odd together plus the 150s aren't controllable like the 360.

So the 160s would be enough for LPS and some monti's at a depth of 20-24 in
I don't know about the montis but I have LPS in one of my tanks with 160s. I have also managed to burn a couple corals under the 160s. This is a 6 foot 125 gal tank with 2 160s. I plan on getting 2 more in the next couple months.

I was even thinking of doing 160 150 160. So three Kessil. I just don't want to wast the 150 I already have

I would be interested in knowing more about your setup. I have a similar sized tank, and unfortunately everyone has a different opinion when it comes to LED lighting on tanks. I was planning to install two-three A360s on my tank, then someone suggested I might need four. Now, I hear you're using A160s and burned some corals with them.

For a 36 in less nag tank 2 360s would be just fine. I have one on my 20 inch and its spread is more than enough

My system is pretty new, just 7 months, and I haven't got a lot of coral yet. I purchased 2 kessil 160s in May with the spectral controller originally I was going to use them with my chinese black boxes but the kessils alone looked so much better than the light from the black boxes that I took them off. I don't have any obvious shadows or dark areas on the edges. I think the reason I am able to keep lps in this tank with only 2 lights is that I have 2 islands. The kessils hang directly over them and the corals are on the islands. Currently I have a duncan, frog spawn, a hammer and a pagoda coral along with some zoas and mushrooms. I also have a mini maxi carpet anemone. All are growing. I burned the crap out of a brain, a challice, and some clove polyps. The light from kessils is a lot more intense than it looks. I should have run one of the aclimatization programs when I added them and I might not have burnt them. All my corals are in the lower half of the tank. I don't have any intention of keeping any high light corals in this tank, it is more for fish. I do have a 40b on which I have a 360 and a 2 bulb T5/HO fixture. My plan is to do more high light coral in that one, but so far only 3 frags. Personally if you want a lot of coral I'd go with 360s. You can always turn the intensity down if it is too much and you can always add more fixtures in the future if you need them.

That's interesting because it's pretty much exactly in line with what I want to do. I plan to build two islands like you have. I am thinking about three A360s, but that may be overkill.

My tank has a center brace so 3 wouldn't work, it was 2 or 4 and I wasn't sure I'd like them. If you have 2 braces 3 would work well and probably be a good choice. You will have more options with 360s. I strongly recommend their controller if you don't have another way to control them.
